Software Developer

The Role:  
The role will involve working as part of the Empired team to lead the way in delivering new functionality, enhancements and performance improvements, using primarily Microsoft tooling such as .NET (web and desktop), WebApi, SQL (Oracle and SQL Server).  You must be a strong team player and will need to have strong verbal and written communications skills, as the role will involve working directly with clients as part of an Empired team. 
  
What you will do: 
 

• Work as part of a team, providing digital consulting services to one of our customers, a global mining client. 
• Develop a deep, expert-level understanding of our client's software systems, becoming an acknowledged expert and trusted advisor. 
• Develop web, desktop, services and database systems in .NET Framework, .NET Core, WebApi, Oracle or SQL Server.  Skills in Java, F# and other languages would be highly valued. 
• Produce high quality code that follows coding best practices and is unit tested. 
• Provide guidance and support for junior team members, including reviewing their code and mentoring.   
• Be a team player who shares knowledge and works to uphold high standards within our team. 
• Contribute to our vibrant and diverse team culture. 

    
What you need to be successful: 
 

• At least 2 years commercial web/desktop applications development experience 
• At least 2 years commercial C# and SQL experience in either Oracle or SQL Server. 
• Excellent understanding of the .NET Framework 
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and / or industry certification & experience 
• Outstanding communication and relationship building skills. 
• A sense of humour! 

Desirable skills:  
 

• Knowledge of industry best practices, coding standards, effective documentation, and production of maintainable code 
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies 
• Knowledge of multiple programming languages or a willingness to learn will be an asset in our team.
