Snapshots from SharePoint Conference 2011

As my colleagues ( Nick and Gavin ) have already blogged, SharePoint Conference 2011 was a massive conference with over 7,500 people attending from around the world, 240+ sessions, and 200 vendors displaying their wares. The main theme of the conference was about making the most of your existing investment in SharePoint. The tagline being that attendees never utter the words “I didn’t know SharePoint could do that” ever again. ... read full post

The latest in SharePoint – highlights and future directions: An update from this year’s SharePoint Conference

For four days and nights during the recent SharePoint Conference there wasn’t a place you could go in Anaheim, California without being in close proximity to a lot of SharePoint people. I was lucky enough to join the 7,500 in attending this year’s conference. With over 240 sessions, 7,500 attendees and 200 vendors, it was a busy and exciting week. Did I mention that the conference party was held on the Tuesday night at Disneyland theme park? ... read full post

Let's talk SharePoint

This year’s SharePoint Conference (held at the Conference Centre in Seattle, USA) can only be described as a huge success. Throughout the conference I was impressed that the organisers were able to “practice what they preach” by using SharePoint to host the conference website. Not only did this provide useful information when preparing to attend the conference but was a useful tool throughout and even after the conference. One of the things that impressed me most was the personal areas (through the use of MySites) where each attendee was able to plan, view and manage the sessions they attended and also provided the ability to submit session evaluations online. ... read full post

In some cases we actually need to implement Chinese Walls , such that we restrict knowledge of certain projects even amongst our staff. This sort of approach is quite prevalent among other professional services businesses, such as legal and accountancy firms, but it's a rarer occurrence in the IT business. ... read full post

SharePoint 2010: The wait is finally over!

By the time you read this, I will be in Las Vegas about to attend the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2009 where SharePoint 2010 will finally be launched to the public. It’s been over 12 months since I started looking at the next version of SharePoint and we’ve been exploring the beta releases at Intergen for the last few months with much excitement, and, yes, a touch of frustration, which is always present with beta testing. ... read full post
