Putting the citizen at the heart of everything: Improving service

In a world where the benchmark for a modern consumer experience is forever on the up – and people’s expectations rising with it – it’s now an absolute imperative to provide a consistently outstanding citizen journey across every single one of your organisation’s touchpoints. ... read full post

Putting the citizen at the heart of everything: How technology can help enable a citizen-centric public service

As a leader in the public sector, you probably find yourself under similar pressures to any business leader, with the expectation that you absolutely have to do more for less year after year. While you’re charged with saving money and reducing your cost to serve, at the heart of everything you do there is your customer, or citizen, who needs to be kept top of mind in all considerations. ... read full post

Technology in government: future trends

The New Zealand government is increasingly using panels as a procurement tool for technology because it’s a great way to get a clear picture of where additional efficiencies can be gained and real innovation can find a target. No longer is procurement about merely choosing which vendor will provide a technology that’s already been mandated. Instead, panels are letting government agencies ask for broad-based innovation so they can see where it might fit in the agency’s environment. ... read full post

How did the legendary rock band Eagles adjust and transform after a huge change?

Jan 18, 2016 I thought the world stopped. Glen Frey from the rock band Eagles – that I grew up adoring – had passed away, and I was certain it was the end of the road. No more “Hotel California” or “Desperado”. I was absolutely gutted. ... read full post

The state of Convergence 2017

After a whirlwind Australasian tour, it’s hard to believe that Empired and Intergen Convergence is done and dusted for 2017. Three weeks; eight locations across Australia and New Zealand; 35 keynote, client and industry speakers; 28 Empired and Intergen speakers; close to 1000 attendees… And more true life stories of disruption, experimentation and transformation than you could poke a stick at (and, as a side note, hardly an Uber mention in sight – I counted three in total across the entire series of events – although Kodak did get a fair few mentions as the representative cautionary tale for our times). ... read full post

Diversity Transformation

The technology sector loves to latch onto buzz words, with the current flavour of the month being D__________ T____________. You know what I mean: it is the way we are describing the change and innovation that all industries need to have top of their agenda. It’s a super important topic for all of us, but I just can’t bring myself to latch onto the buzz word.   ... read full post

The data-driven world

The world is growing at an incredibly fast pace and things are becoming increasingly inter-connected. In his latest book, Thank you for being late , Thomas Friedman captures this aptly: “It was only a few years ago when Facebook did not exist, twitter was still a sound, the cloud was still in the sky, 4G was a parking place, linked in was a prison, application is what you sent to colleges, big data was a rap star, and skype was a typographical error.”  ... read full post

Achieving digital transformation through Convergence

It’s an exciting – and sometimes daunting – time in the world of technology-enabled business transformation right now. Opportunities and options are abundant and ‘digital’ encompasses absolutely everything we do. And in a fast-paced, ever-changing, always-on world, digital transformation has fast become a leading (if not the leading) organisational imperative. ... read full post
